"Orquesta del Mar" Festival

This festival orchestra is hosted by the University of Costa Rica - Pacific every July and focuses exclusively on Latin American repertoire for the symphony orchestra. Rafael served as Music Director for this year's orchestra featuring works by living Latin American composers. The orchestra presented three concerts for audiences in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica, and featured a premiere by Venezuelan composer Reinaldo Moya for violin and orchestra, performed by Francesca Anderegg, called "Rapa Nui." Students from the orchestra at Augsburg University where Rafael is the conductor also participated in the week-long camp and concerts.
