CU Jazz in Costa Rica!

The Thompson Jazz Studies Program at the University of Colorado Boulder, led by Dr. John Gunther, conducted a very successful tour to Costa Rica giving concerts, master classes, and conducting educational visits to local music schools to promote jazz performance and educational opportunities in the United States. Rafael coordinated the details of this trip including performances with the New Jazz Project in San José, and collaborated with CU students and faculty giving master classes at the school of music in Pérez Zeledón. Dr. Gunther visited Costa Rica last year with Rafael giving a concert with the National Bands as soloist, and is currently evaluating possibilities for further engagement including extended faculty visits and summer workshops
